William Powell is one of the original counselors to join Peace of Mind, Inc. He is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS).He received his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. He has been an ordained minister of the Free Methodist Church for 36years. He has also served as chaplain at Portage County Hospice, Kent, OH, Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, NY and St. James Mercy Medical Center, Hornell, NY. Currently he is an Elder at Northside Community Church, Knightdale, NC. William received a Master of Science in Education with a specialty in counseling degree at The Graduate School, Alfred University. He and Molly VanDuser were classmates there. They worked together at Family Service Society, Bath, NY and Noyes Mental Health Clinic, Dansville, NY as co-facilitators of the Batterer’s Education Program. William has extensive counseling experience working with people who have experienced trauma, who are in recovery from drugs and alcohol, adult children of alcoholic and blended families. He also has experience counseling people with gender orientation issues. As the coordinator of the batterer’s program, William was active in the local domestic violence consortium, the Domestic Abuse Review Team. William continued by participating in domestic abuse by being part of the Sexual Abuse Review Team (SART) in Lillington, NC. William has served as an independent contractor and clinical supervisor since the office doors opened on February 1, 2008, serving people who need to counsel, especially in areas of recovery, adjustment, anxiety, blended families, trauma and grief.
